The Importance of Site Protection

It’s no secret that remodeling is a messy process.  Construction is dusty and dirty; cutting, sawing, sanding, and grinding throw all kinds of things into the air.  Not just messy but invasive; large, heavy items must make their way through the home (think cabinets and bathtubs to name a few). And we haven’t mentioned demo yet…

At Fidelis we strive to minimize the impact our construction process imposes on our clients and their home.

Site protection becomes an integral part of our building process and the first thing we focus on when starting a new project. Let’s take a look at a few of the site protection measures we like to implement:

  • Floor protection – When remodeling just one or two areas of a house often times flooring isn’t part of the scope.  With all the movement of trades and material through the house during the building process floors can take a beating.  We are mindful to protect these, we use various products from paint tarps to Ram Board we use a variety of products to make sure our clients floors remain in pristine condition.
  • Dust Barriers – As mentioned above construction is a dusty process, it’s unavoidable, at Fidelis Builders we focus on containing this to the construction area.  We use a combination of products and processes to do this. First we seal off our construction areas with plastic barriers and ZipWall accessories.  We also like to take this a step further and implement negative air machines with HEPA filter protection.
  • Wall Protection – Last but not least, wall protection.  Throughout the remodeling process it’s inevitable that large items and material will need to be transported through the house.  We strategically use products such as foam board to protect walls and other finished surfaces from being damaged.  Although we are extra careful when moving through the house we know that accidents happen and we have the foresight to protect against them.

These are just a few of the methods we use to protect our clients homes.  If you’re looking to remodel make sure your contractor has a plan to protect those areas of your house outside the construction area.  If you have questions or want more details on our process, reach out!
