We all know technology is moving at supersonic speed these days. Although construction has always lagged behind other industries in adopting technological advances the builders of the future are taking advantage of technology to help them in all facets of business. Let’s talk drones and that Birdseye view!
Over the years one of the neatest technologies to make its way to the consumer market are recreational drones. These small, fit in the palm of you hand, devices pack a big punch. The camera capabilities of these small devices often match that of high end Sony and Nikon cameras. The learning curve is small and they can be flown through a simple app on our phones.
Our favorite drone is the DJI Mini Pro 3 (check out the link for some amazing professional footage). The drone gives us the ability to document jobsite progress, as well as communicate with our partners and clients.
Jobsite Progress:
The ability for us to track our
progress on the jobsite is vital to our success. Not only are we able to document progress timelines we can also use aerial photography to determine site conditions, laydown areas, and jobsite flow. The high quality photos allow us to market our skills and ability as a company.
Communication:
Aerial photography is a great communication tool. We are able to markup our photos, showing future building footprints, demonstrate scopes of work, and discuss planning with our subcontractors.
We will continue to expand our use of these great tools for the benefit our ourselves, our trades, and our clients.
